Our Story
Rian is originally from Napa Valley, the heart of California wine country. Starting her career in the restaurant business at age 15, she naturally pivoted to the wine industry to follow her passion for wine. With her restaurant experience and a degree in communications from San Francisco State, she worked with world-renowned wineries, including Beringer Vineyards, Far Niente Estate, Nickel & Nickel, Round Pond Estate, and the PlumpJack family of wineries. Her experience includes managing fast-paced, high-end tasting rooms, direct-to-consumer programs, and wine clubs.
Chris is from Washington, D.C., and made his way West after serving in the army to attend the University of Arizona. His undying passion for food and wine led him to Napa Valley, where he served and bartended in highly regarded restaurants with extensive wine programs, furthering his knowledge of wine and white glove service. Chris, a Certified Sommelier, managed Hospitality at Round Pond Estate and later became the Hospitality Manager at Continuum Estate, working closely with the Mondavi Family in the winery and estate house where they welcome guests.
Rian and Chris have two children, Isla and Zane, and a sweet pup, Maya. They love all Wood River Valley has to offer and can usually be found camping out in the woods with friends and family, hiking, biking, shooting pucks, and sharing new wines and recipes with friends.
Roots is a reflection of a dream which has been years in the making, created from a combined experience in the world of food and wine.
